classification of shapes

Image
Hi all, hope you are doing well. Mathematics is an interesting area, It's fun to dive into it. Let's start today's topic. SHAPES What is a shape? SHAPE is the outline of something. The shapes are closed by outline made by points, line segments or curved lines. we can see different objects in our daily life are in different shapes such as birthday cap, ruler, photo frame, wall clock etc In this figure we can see basic shapes such as circle, square, triangle, Rectangle etc. A closed figure or closed shape can be defined as any geometric shape which starts and ends at the same point to form a boundary by line segments or by curves.  Shapes shown in the above picture are closed figures. Open figures are incomplete shapes.  An open figure’s starting and endpoints are different. Classification of shapes Depend upon its  regularity or uniformity shapes are divided into two 1. Regular shapes  2.Irregular shapes A  regular shape  is usually symmetrical . E...

All about Three Dimensional Shapes (3D Shapes) - Definition ,pictures, explanation(let's plug in #8)

Image
How are you? Hope you doing well.. Today we learn about  3D shapes.             Have you gone through the previous blog about 2D shapes ? If do go through it, It's very interesting and helps you to better understand 2D shapes by clicking here Triangle to Icosagon (2D shapes). Here we are going to see about 3D shapes. Here 3D stands for three-dimensional. 3D shapes have three different measurements such as length, width and height as its dimensions. 3D shapes have depth, thickness, and volume but 2D shapes have not. The faces of the 3D shapes are 2d shapes. Depending  on the type of surface, 3D shapes are categorized into two 1. Curved shaped solid  2. Straight sided polygon or polyhedrons Curved shaped solids 3D shapes that have curved surfaces are called curved solids examples are 1. Sphere 2. Cone 3. cylinder Straight sided polygon or polyhedrons 3D shapes with straight sides are called straight-sided polygons. They are also known as ...

TRIANGLE to ICOSAGON -All about Polygons(Let's plunge in #7)

Image
Hi all, hope you are doing well. Mathematics is an interesting area, It's fun to dive into it. Let's start today's topic. POLYGONS. What is a shape? SHAPE is the outline of something. Then what are 2D shapes? 2D shapes are shapes with two dimensions such as width and height. Do you heard about Polygons?                                                                                    Polygons are 2 dimensional closed shapes.  They are joining with 3 or more line segment each other. Then what is regular polygon and irregular polygon?                                           polygon with all the sides are equal and all interior angles are equal is regular...

What are Ordinal Numbers? (Let's plunge in #6)

Image
How many types of numbers do you know? You may know these number systems: i) Natural Numbers     ii) Whole Numbers iii) Integers iv) Negative Natural Numbers v) Rational Numbers etcetera But what are Ordinal numbers? This is our question for today! 😊     A number defining the position of something in a series are known as "Ordinal Numbers". These are some ordinal numbers for your better understanding. Woah! This should be easy enough! Bye, and stay tuned for the next blog!  :-)

Magic number nine (Let's plunge in #4)

Image
Today Let's explore the Magic of number nine         Here we shall see 3 different tricks using the number 9.                            Trick 1 Try it out and be amazed. take a piece of paper write 987654321 multiply this number with 9 s ubtract  1 ????? let try   987654321 x                  9 ------------------ 888888889 -                 1 ----------------- 888888888 wow! Now try this in backyards . Instead of subtracting 1 add 10 to the product 123456789 x                 9 -----------------  11111111 01  +                  10 -----------------   1111111111 how did this happen?? Trick 2 Trick 3 I bet you'll find this far more interes...

What is place value? (Let's plunge in #3)

Image
Place value is a concept that helps us understand the meaning and value of each digit in a number. It tells us how much a digit is worth based on its position in the number.  For example, in the number 123, the digit 1 is worth 100 , the digit 2 is worth 20 , and the digit 3 is worth 3 . We can write this number as 100 + 20 + 3 using place value. To find the place value of a digit, we can use a place value chart that shows the names and values of each position in a number. The chart below shows the place value chart for whole numbers up to ten millions. W e can also use place value to write numbers in different forms.  One form is the standard form , which is how we usually write numbers using digits.  Another form is the word form , which is how we write numbers using words.  A third form is the expanded form , which is how we write numbers using place value.   For example, Standard form: 7,654,321  Word form: seven million six hundred fifty-four thous...
